Interest in Bonds waning?
We may find out as the Barry Bonds watch continues. Bonds went homerless for the 19th time in the past 21 games Tuesday night and the media is either losing interest or has reached the limit on the company credit cards. At least five national writers have pulled off the chase in the past week and more may drop off if Bonds doesn't homer soon. A noticeable number of fans even left the ballpark after the eighth inning Tuesday despite the fact that Bonds was due up in the ninth.
The Giants are playing a day game against the Cardinals Wednesday, which normally would mean a day off for Bonds. But these are unusual times. Manager Felipe Alou said he'll make a decision after seeing how Bonds feels in the morning while Bonds said after Tuesday's game that he wasn't sure whether he'll play. The Giants have Thursday off before starting a three-game series against the Rockies on Friday.
