SAN FRANCISCO -- The latest controversy involving Barry Bonds has nothing to do with steroid accusations, subpoenas or possible perjury charges. No, the latest flap is about heaters. Yes, heaters, the kind in the dugout.

It's been an uncharacteristically chilly spring in San Francisco, and after hitting his 710th home run Tuesday night, Barry Bonds complained about the lack of heaters inside the Giants' dugout. During a three-minute interview session with reporters, Bonds made six references to the cold weather and/or lack of heaters.

ESPN's Pedro Gomez covered the Oakland A's home and away nearly every day from 1992-97 for the San Jose Mercury News and Sacramento Bee and then became the national baseball writer and later a general columnist at the Arizona Republic before becoming an ESPN bureau reporter in 2003.
