On the court, things are slowly getting better for the Atlanta Hawks. Joe Johnson scored a career-high 42 points on Tuesday to lead Atlanta's 113-106 win over Golden State, making the Hawks a respectable 18-21 since their disastrous 2-16 start.
Off the court, it's a different matter, as the ownership battle that seemingly had been resolved over the summer again is bubbling to the surface. If you'll recall, several months ago part-owner Steve Belkin was essentially removed by the other partners in the group that owns both the Hawks and the NHL's Atlanta Thrashers. This was done after Belkin blocked the offseason sign-and-trade for Johnson against the other owners' wishes, and a reasonably quick buyout of Belkin's roughly 30 percent stake seemed to be the only eventual conclusion.
