Biathletes don't miss a beat

I've heard it said that competing in biathlon is like sprinting up a dozen flights of stairs and then trying to thread a needle, but I don't think that does it justice.

Though these athletes are in ridiculous shape, and they get a whole eight seconds of downhill coasting to recover, their heart rate must still be elevated through the roof when they have to settle down and take aim.
