In the latest issue of ESPN The Magazine, we have a package devoted to the hottest and coolest people in sport. (By the way this doesn't constitute a shameless plug. That'll come in about 400 words down.) One of the guys I think you could make a case for belonging in such a package is Indiana return specialist Lance Bennett, and not just because the 5-6, 165-pound junior is second in the nation in kickoff returns, averaging 44 yards per for a team off to its first 3-0 start since 1994. It's also because Bennett is a very accomplished songwriter and can walk into pretty much any club in any city at a given time and go up to the hottest girl on the dance floor and say, "Hear this song you're dancing to? I wrote it," and not be lying.
The Brooklyn native has a huge hit out right now, "Switch", which he collaborated on with his older brothers and Will Smith, who performed the song. "Switch" seems to be everywhere. Next to "Gold Digger," I can't think of a song that is getting worked any harder.
"I think the album is over platinum worldwide," Bennett said matter-of-factly Thursday night. "It's been in the top 20 in over 20 countries. I used to look at the Billboard charts every week, but you can only tell how it's doing in America on that."
