Do The Right Thing:
The National Hockey League will unveil a silver new logo today to replace the orange and black shield. It looks nice, but it would have been better for the league to get off to a better start by televising this afternoon's draft lottery in full. Do something the NBA has never been able to do. Let fans see the balls especially when we all know that hockey phenom Sidney Crosby on the line for the No. 1 pick. Instead, all viewers will see and that's only if they have ESPNEWS or their local station is picking up the TSN feed is Gary Bettman ripping envelopes. Not exactly compelling television. Even this reporter's request to be inside the Ping-Pong ball room, as I have done with the NBA twice in recent years, was turned down.
Reebok and Sweatshops:
Charles Kernaghan, executive director the National Labor Committee, a labor watchdog group, presented findings Friday linking Reebok and its NBA and NFL business to a sweatshop in Honduras. The factory, the organization claims, makes the $75 pro jerseys, but workers only make 19 cents per shirt.
