Peter Angelos is not the kind of owner who secretly wants to become a player personnel director. He's not scanning box scores and hitting his general manager at 8 a.m. with 36 names as possible acquisitions. The business of George Steinbrenner's life is the Yankees, first and foremost; the Orioles' owner, on the other hand, is a lawyer, first and foremost, and he works very hard at his chosen profession.
But Angelos does not fully delegate authority, either, and that is how he becomes a factor in the personnel decisions made by the Orioles. As
