After getting a victory in an uncomfortably close game with Minnesota, the Trojans offense will face its first real test against new conference rival Utah. The Utes, who dominated the Mountain West Conference for years with their overall size and speed, now are looking to prove their worth in the Pac-12.
The USC offense will be facing a defense with many fronts and faces. Last week, Utah rotated in 10 defensive linemen, as well as running the 4-3, 3-4 and the Bear front, giving the Trojans plenty to prepare for this week.
The Trojans will face the 4-3 front most of this season. The front is the most common defensive scheme in the country, consisting of four defensive linemen and three linebackers. The Trojans, who run a similar defense, should have no problem knowing their blocking assignments.
