Notre Dame athletics director's comments about playoff ringing hollow

LOS ANGELES -- Remember the line uttered by Al Pacino in The Godfather Part III when he says, "Every time I try to get out, they pull me back in?" That's how I am starting to feel regarding the 'no-more-than-four expansion until 2025' rationale presented by Notre Dame athletic director and BCS committee member Jack Swarbrick.
I thought I had already written my quota about limiting the number of playoff teams to four until I read some of the recent justifications by Swarbrick for stonewalling any consideration for expanding beyond the four-team seeded playoff until the recently agreed-to contract runs out.
So why do you think we suddenly have harmony in the first place for a college football final four playoff? Hasn't this concept been shot down annually for over two generations?
