After a tough debut last year, it's apparent that the Trojans are almost back

LOS ANGELES -- So much happened in that three-overtime classic, so many wild, pulsating moments followed by even wilder, off-the-chart emotions that it took a full day or two to sit back, take a few hundred deep breaths and try to put it all into perspective.
As difficult as it is for USC fans to accept the outcome even now, here is the single, most important fact to emerge from one of the great college football games in recent Coliseum history:
The Trojans have closed the gap.
