LOS ANGELES - - It figured that first up on USC coach Lane Kiffin's 2012 postseason re-examination table would be his defense, but that situation for the Trojans' leader was pretty much taken care of when Monte Kiffin, the defensive CEO and the coach's father, quickly announced that he was resigning after the Hyundai Sun Bowl.
So with Papa Monte going on his merry way, the prospects of a major debate regarding the direction of the Trojans' much-maligned defense died down considerably, and Lane Kiffin was hoping to turn his complete attention to the Sun Bowl and recruiting.
That was until Matt Barkley went on the Dan Patrick radio show.
Matt Barkley unwittingly added another log to the Lane Kiffin fire this week, questioning the coach's play-calling on the Dan Patrick Show.
