SALT LAKE CITY - - So there I was, sitting in the press box of Utah's Rice-Eccles Stadium almost totally exhausted after charting the No.13 USC Trojans' 38-28 comeback victory over the Utah Utes, contemplating just where the 2012 USC Trojans postseason bowl destination should be.
I know all the preseason talk was about the possibility of the Trojans playing for the BCS championship in Miami and partying hardy in South Beach was exhilarating, but don't hurl tomatoes my way when I say the best location for this Trojans team is where all Cardinal and Gold teams should experience at least once in their career -- the Rose Bowl, the Granddaddy of Them All.
As remote as it currently seems, the Trojans theoretically still could play in Miami for the BCS title, and that would be a wonderful memory that would last for years. However, in this neck of the country woods, Rose Bowl memories don't last for years but a lifetime.
If a shot at the BCS Championship is a bit far-fetched right now, a shot at the Rose Bowl isn't -- and that's exactly where the Trojans should be aiming.
