LOS ANGELES USC Trojans fans know the drill. How many times through the years has a recruit or commitment been called the next Marcus Allen, Ronnie Lott, or Brad Budde?

It's inevitable that after recent Trojans verbals by highly regarded defensive tackle Eddie Vanderdoes (Auburn, Calif./Placer) and offensive linemen Nico Fatah (Bellflower, Calif./St. John Bosco) and Khaliel Rodgers (Elkton, Md./Eastern Christian Academy), the comparison game figures to be in high gear.

Much of the time, the comparison game never quite lives up to its billing, but there have been exceptions. Although his Trojans career started out shaky, future Heisman Trophy-winning left-handed quarterback Matt Leinart came to campus being compared to former All-America southpaw quarterback Paul McDonald.
