The news hit me as hard as a blitzing Junior Seau used to hit opposing quarterbacks. This great football player, this warm, gregarious slab of a man who was always so full of life, dead of apparent suicide at the age of 43?
It can't be, it shouldn't be, but it is. There is no way to explain it. No way to understand it. But sadly, that was the somber report on a cold, cruel, spring day only yards away from his beloved Pacific Ocean in Oceanside.
