LOS ANGELES -- There hasn't been an NFL team here in the City of Angels since 1994, so when it comes to the Super Bowl, the next best thing is to cheer for former Trojans that are participating.
Well, a funny thing happened along the way to Indianapolis, as there are no Trojans playing in Super Bowl XLVI. That's pretty big news considering that a Trojan has appeared in all but three of the past 45 Super Bowls.
I didn't think there was any way that was possible. Somebody on the Patriots and the Giants has to be a Cardinal and Gold alumni, right? Whatever happened to Steve Smith? Wasn't he once a Super Champion with the New York Giants? You mean he's now with the Philadelphia Eagles?
Sunday's Super Bowl might be lacking former Trojans, but USC has made its mark in the 46-year history of the game.
