The Trojans would have given the champs a better match than bumbling LSU did

LOS ANGELES -- The more I sat there trying not to doze off during the field-goal fest that passed for the BCS title game on Monday night, the more the question kept reverberating in my head.
How would the fast-closing 2011 Trojans have fared against Alabama on Monday night?
First, let's get one thing straight: I take nothing away from that fearsome Crimson Tide defense. It proved it is clearly one of the finest defensive units of the modern era, with enough size, speed and mobility to start for more than a few NFL teams I've seen this season.
