LOS ANGELES -- It's not that senior fullback/tight end Rhett Ellison didn't want you to appreciate his contributions during his five years in the USC Trojans football program. It's just that he was too busy trying to make himself and his team better, day in and day out.
Showing up before practice and staying long after most of his teammates and the media had departed, his work ethic from his redshirt freshman season to his senior campaign was a classic example of the dedication to a game he loves so dearly.
Every successful team has a Rhett Ellison -- an underpublicized football player who enters a university without much fanfare but contributes heavily to a magical season like the Trojans' recently completed 10-2 campaign.
Rhett Ellison came to USC as the unsung son of former Trojans great Riki Ellison. He leaves with his name on the team's special teams award.
