Blowouts crucial part of USC-ND lore
Two of the most famous games in the series were extremely lopsided

When you think about the greatest college football games ever played in the storied rivalry between the USC Trojans and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, it's ironic that two of the most legendary contests were, in fact, blowouts.
Despite their lopsided final scores, the Trojans' 1974 comeback victory in Los Angeles and the Irish's 1977 "Green Jersey Game" triumph in South Bend are historical classics, which provide storytellers from both programs a chance to enhance and embellish for generations to come.
The great irony? Neither game came down to a last-second touchdown or a pulsating, last-second field goal.
