USC's defensive players have been maligned almost as much as members of Congress these past few weeks. They couldn't defend the run, they couldn't defend the pass, they couldn't defend much of anything. These guys have had more holes punched in them than most election ballots.
So now they finally go out and play a good game, maybe even an excellent game, at California, and everybody kind of overlooks it. The Golden Bears were awful. Zach Maynard was terrible. The 30-9 victory didn't really prove much.
