At 6-feet-6 and 275 pounds, San Clemente (Calif.) High School offensive lineman Kyle Murphy is a big presence, both on the field and at the top of USC's recruiting list. Actually, he's at the top of everyone's recruiting list, with offers to from vitrually every top school in the country. Right now, it looks as if the Trojans are in a three-way battle with Stanford and Oregon for his services.
Strengths Murphy is one of the most complete offensive linemen in the 2012 class and projects as a true left tackle at the next level. Has good flexibility in his hips, allowing him to not have to bend or lunge to block his man. He rarely gets out of position in pass protection or over-sets his man. Keeps his shoulders square to the line of scrimmage when he kick slides. Uses his long arms to his advantage by keeping his man away from his body. He comes off the ball relatively low for his height while run blocking. Has great balance and, because of the flexibility in his hips, he rarely gets over-extended.
