When Su'a Cravens (Murrieta, Calif./Vista Murrieta) originally set his college announcement date for June 6 -- his mother's birthday -- there was rampant message board speculation that he was a done deal for the Trojans. Cravens had included several other top schools on his short list, but the consensus feeling was that he would eventually stay local.
Shortly after that, however, Cravens said he would be taking unofficial visits at the end of May to Nebraska and Michigan at the urging of his cousin, defensive line recruit Joe Mathis (Upland, Calif./Upland).
The Huskers and Wolverines were two of the schools on the short list for Cravens, so his desire to take those visits gave USC fans a bit of a pause. After all, it doesn't matter how strongly a recruit may be leaning, one never knows what might happen when they actually take a visit to a particular campus.
