LOS ANGELES -- After signing 21 players in the class of 2011, the USC Trojans will have the opportunity to add four early entrees this spring -- bringing the 2011 total to 25 -- as well as 15 new players the following fall -- reduced from 25 due to NCAA sanctions.
Lane Kiffin and his staff now have fewer than two months to put the finishing touches on what Trojans fans hope will be a stellar class come national signing day. WeAreSC takes a position-by-position look at how those scholarships could be utilized.
Quarterback -- 0
Despite Matt Barkley's status being unclear and the usual desire to take at least one quarterback per recruiting class, the feeling has been that the Trojans would pass on a signal caller this year. Gunner Kiel (Columbus, Ind./Columbus East) has been offered, but looks to be a long shot at this point. There has been some recent interest in Arizona commit Nate Sudfeld (Modesto, Calif./Modesto Christian), but things would have to really pick up for him to become a realistic option.
