The final week of the high school regular season kicked off last night, as several USC recruits are pushing for playoff berths and improved seeding. This weekend also marks the start of the final quarter of USC's season. The Trojans will host the Washington Huskies in a homecoming game that could carry significant recruiting ramifications.
Riverside JW North (8-1) at Norco (6-3)
This game should feature an interesting matchup in Norco linebacker Scott Starr against JW North tight end Marcus Baugh. Starr -- a USC commit -- is hoping to end his final regular season on a positive note, and he'll get a big test in 2013 TE/DE Baugh, who has been offered by UCLA. North is working on a four-game winning streak, while Norco could finish in a tie for second place in the Big VIII League with a win.
Los Angeles Loyola (7-2) at Encino Crespi (7-2)
This could be the final high school football game for USC commit Jordan Simmons, whose Celts need a victory over the Cubs to get into the playoffs. It won't be the last time we see Simmons, who will take part in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, but the offensive lineman would certainly enjoy putting on the Crespi uniform a few more times.
USC gets a surprise visit from Tempe, Ariz., offensive lineman Andrus Peat; USC and Washington fighting for several recruits going into their game Saturday.
