The penultimate weekend of the regular season began with a City Section battle on Thursday night and will continue with two big Trinity League showdowns. WeAreSC also checks on a Florida defensive end being pursued by the Trojans, as well as a California quarterback playing his way to the top of his class.

Downey (3-5) at Compton Dominguez (6-2)
Dominguez enters undefeated in league play, while Downey sits at 2-1 in the San Gabriel Valley League. After an 0-2 start, Dominguez has rattled off six wins thanks to the return of offensive lineman Lacy Westbrook and defensive end Damion Turpin from injury. Downey and USC linebacker commit Jabari Ruffin will be tested by an improving Dominguez team that boasts FBS talent at several positions, including cornerbacks Brandon Beaver and Alphonso Marsh.

Los Angeles Loyola (7-1) at Mission Hills Alemany (6-2)
Loyola might not have the most firepower in the Serra League, but it just keep winning, knocking off Sherman Oaks Notre Dame and La Puente Bishop Amat in its first two league games. The Cubs are led by junior tailback Wyatt Bradford and senior receiver Kodi Whitfield offensively, but they'll need to keep up with Alemany's dynamic combination of wide receivers Jerico Richardson and Steven Mitchell. Alemany also bring a 2-0 league record into this matchup, with those victories coming by a combined seven points.
