Before USC and Stanford meet for the game of the week in college football, several high-profile Southern California high school games will be decided. Although the play on the field still will be the highlight for USC fans Saturday, the Trojans will host an impressive list of unofficial visitors looking forward to what could become one of the better games in the Pac-12 this season.
San Clemente (8-0) vs. Mission Viejo (5-2)
San Clemente has a win over Santa Ana Mater Dei on its resume, but tonight's game against Mission Viejo will be its biggest test of the season. The Tritons have a tremendous running game behind a big-time offensive line featuring USC recruit Kyle Murphy. The Diablos will counter with a ground game featuring USC commit Jahleel Pinner, who should be back to full health with one game and a bye week under his belt since returning from an injury. Safety/wide receiver Max Redfield is putting himself on the map in terms of the top 2013 recruits and is the kind of player who could have a big impact in a game like this.
Anaheim Servite (6-1) vs. Bellflower St. John Bosco (6-1)
All eyes have been on next week's showdown between Anaheim Servite and Santa Margarita since the beginning of the season, but the Friars can't overlook the Braves tonight. Bosco has the offensive firepower to keep up with Servite, with wide receiver Bryce Treggs and running back DaVonte Young leading the way. The winner moves to 3-0 in the Trinity League and takes over sole possession of first place in one of the toughest leagues in the country.
