LOS ANGELES -- Encino (Calif.) Crespi suffered its first loss of the season two weeks ago, with a 38-20 setback against Vista Murrieta. It's safe to say that Jordan Simmons and his Celts teammates didn't dwell on the loss. One week later, Crespi made the short trip to Woodland Hills Taft High School on Thursday night and quickly dispatched the Toreadors, taking a 35-0 lead and coasting to a 56-7 victory.
"We shouldn't have lost last week, but we made little mistakes," Simmons said. "The rest of the season, we shouldn't lose a game."
It would be tough to argue with Simmons after Thursday night's performance. He anchored the line from his right tackle position but had help from the usual Crespi playmakers, as wide receivers Chris Harper and Mike Davison each scored two touchdowns, and Brandon Arnold added a 92-yard interception return for a score. Harper's second touchdown came on a leaping grab between three defenders, while Davison's second score was the result of a zigzagging punt return.
