Rancho Santa Margarita High School offensive lineman Max Tuerk is one of the five four-star recruits USC has committed in the 2012 recruiting class. Like most top recruits, Tuerk has the size and athleticism to play on both sides of the ball. However, with a shallow offensive line, the Trojans are looking to use Tuerk's services to add depth to their young offensive line relatively soon.
Strengths At 6-foot-5, 290 pounds, Tuerk still looks to have room to grow. Dominates in the run game. Explodes his hips on contact while maintaining proper leverage and pad level. Looks to understand the technique of pulling as well as running flat down the line to trap his man. Takes the proper angles when climbing to the second level. Does a great job getting his head across when blocking a defensive lineman or linebackers. Even in the rare instances when he is unable to do this, he realizes that he's out of position and fights to get his head across and avoid penalties.
