Editor's note: WeAreSC recruiting editor Erik McKinney will rank the Trojans' commitments from 10 to 1 according to the importance of each to the 2012 roster. Prospect No. 7 is running back Kelvin York.
With USC set to lose senior tailback Marc Tyler after the 2011 season, bringing back four smaller tailbacks in Curtis McNeal, Dillon Baxter, D.J. Morgan and Amir Carlisle in 2012, the Trojans coaches knew they needed to go out and grab a power back who could contribute early.
It didn't take long for them to find junior college standout Kelvin York. USC coaches put him on the radar after watching his first game at Fullerton College and came through with a scholarship offer this past spring. The 5-foot-11, 220-pound York should give the Trojans some semblance of a power running game that head coach Lane Kiffin and offensive coordinator Kennedy Polamalu covet but weren't able to fully cultivate during their first season at USC.
