Texas QB target has taken over as a full-time starter and prospect

THE COLONY, Texas -- In the sixth grade, J.T. Barrett (Wichita Falls, Texas/Rider) was presented with two options in the wake of his grandfather's passing.
He could have gone to the funeral with the rest of his family or stayed with a friend and played in one of his final boys' club football games.
"I was hurt, but I knew my team needed me," said Barrett, who is now one of the Longhorns' top junior quarterback targets.
