AUSTIN, Texas -- Mack Brown and Bob Stoops have faced each other 12 times at the Cotton Bowl, with Stoops holding a 7-5 advantage in the Red River Rivalry.
But the familiar foes have gone head-to-head much more often on the recruiting trail, and each has come away with key commitments the other also was hotly pursuing.
Here are some of the most notable players that Brown was able to keep away from Stoops:
Derrick Johnson, LB
Waco, Texas/Waco
Class of 2001
Stoops had momentum on his side heading into the 2001 season. He had just led the Sooners to a national title in his second season in Norman, having beaten Texas 63-14 along the way.
