Notre Dame vs. OU: Offense mixing it up
Can Notre Dame stop OU?
KEY STAT: 12.4
By Brandon Chatmon
On second downs this season, Oklahoma running back Damien Williams is averaging 12.4 yards per touch. His eye-popping 359 total yards on 23 carries and six receptions on second down this season are a sign how explosive the junior can be for OU's offense.
Slot receiver edge for OU

Looking for a potential "X factor" for the Sooners vs. Notre Dame?
The pair features several similarities including competitiveness, quickness, ball skills and superb open-field ability yet they have differences as well.
Saunders, a junior, brings experience but is still working to cement his relationship with Landry Jones after becoming eligible on Oct. 13 after appealing the NCAA to play immediately following his transfer from Fresno Stats. Shepard, a freshman, brings youthful enthusiasm and maturity beyond his years.
Both players tend to make the most of their opportunities.
According to ESPN Stats & Info, Saunders and Shepard rank 1-2 in average yards per target amongst OU receivers with five or more receptions. Saunders has five receptions on seven targets for 88 yards (12.6 ypt). Shepard has 17 receptions on 21 targets for 215 yards (10.6 ypt) and two touchdowns. Trey Millard leads the team with 11.2 yards per target boosted by his 71-yard reception against Texas.
Those numbers make it clear the Sooners need that trend to continue if they hope to knock off the Irish, while Notre Dame cannot overlook OU's slot receiver duo if they plan to head back to South Bend, Ind. with a win.
