Injuries, defections hurt OU in spring

NORMAN, Okla. -- SoonerNation takes a look at Oklahoma's projected offensive depth chart for the spring. We'll examine the defensive spring depth chart on Tuesday. Classifications in parentheses are for the 2012 season:

Quarterback

Landry Jones (Sr.), Drew Allen (Jr.), Blake Bell (So.) Kendal Thompson (RFr.)
Jones announced last week he's coming back, effectively solidifying the position. Count on the Sooners to expand the Belldozer package around Bell as a change of pace to the base offense. The big question is, who will be Jones' backup? Allen enters the spring as the No. 2, but Bell gained ground in the fall. Don't forget about Thompson, though. Thompson has impressed behind closed practices with his speed and athleticism. He could factor into the quarterback derby in 2013 after Jones graduates.
