NORMAN, Okla. -- Tight end Taylor McNamara (San Diego/Westview) won't be coached by Mike Stoops, but no Oklahoma verbal commit in the 2012 class knows head coach Bob Stoops' younger brother better than McNamara.
One of the biggest reasons McNamara originally committed to Arizona was because of the relationship he developed with Stoops. And when Stoops was fired by Arizona after more than seven seasons, it didn't take long for McNamara to look around.
He didn't know they would be reunited, but that is the case as Stoops will join the Sooners' coaching staff this season as the secondary coach and co-defensive coordinator, sources told ESPN's Joe Schad Wednesday. Defensive backs coach Willie Martinez will be leaving the team.
