ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Going into this season, one of the more stable units on the entire Michigan team was supposed to be its defensive line.
The line had an All-America candidate in senior defensive tackle Mike Martin and two All-Big Ten contenders in ends Ryan Van Bergen and Craig Roh. If the Wolverines were to have any defensive success at all, they needed huge performances out of those three players and whoever else filled in as the fourth member of defensive front.
They were also supposed to be a group with young depth -- end Jibreel Black played well as a freshman and tackle Will Campbell has possessed enormous potential since his arrival in 2009 but never showed it on the field.
