True freshmen make dent
Seventeen make trip for opener, 12 actually get playing time

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- For 17 true freshmen, the Cowboys Classic will be remembered as their first Michigan football game. Most will look back on it and realize how fortunate they were to be part of it, knowing how much they learned in their collegiate opener.
But Michigan coach Brady Hoke will, in part, remember the game as a bit of a headache, and not only because of the 27-point loss. He described the weekend as "interesting" because so many young players traveled. With so many freshmen on the travel squad, for him it was "like babysitting sometimes, a little bit."
"They're just young," he said. "They got on a big-boy jet and they flew down and played in a big-boy stadium with a big-boy team."
