Demens keys present, future
LB analysis: Junior kept linebacking corps together and is key to its future growth

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Michigan coach Brady Hoke isn't afraid of fielding youth. He did just that with the linebackers this season.
"The best players have to play," Hoke said. "If we don't play the best players no matter who they are, where they're from, what age they are, then we're cheating the program."
He had leadership and experience in junior Kenny Demens, who secured the middle of the field, but the Wolverines had to find players to fill the strongside and weakside linebacker positions. Hoke found those players in true freshman Desmond Morgan and redshirt freshman Jake Ryan.
