ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Cathy Schembechler pulled into the driveway and began to cry. From the car to the house she walked alone, gripping a wine cork that she had found tucked behind the notepads and pens in her late husband's desk drawer.
It had been a long day, and those who had been with Cathy were now sitting at the table waiting to begin a late dinner.
Jim Brandstatter broke the silence. "Can you believe he kept those message slips from Dick Calderazzo or that card from Steve Everitt?"
Bo Schembechler was a taskmaster who wasn't always easy to play for. But behind closed doors he cherished his players, his family and his friends, and he alwasy kept them close.
