If a prospect has more than 20 offers from the top schools in the country, including Stanford, Florida, Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma and Clemson, then it's safe to say he is one of the top prospects in his class. When a recruit holds those same offers and is only a sophomore in high school, then it's safe to say he will be something special.
Both descriptions are used when talking about 2014 defensive end Da'Shawn Hand (Woodbridge, Va./Woodbridge). Despite being only 16 years old, Hand finds himself knee deep in the recruiting process. While it was daunting at first, he now knows he will soon have to get serious about evaluating each program. "At first when I would talk to coaches I was like, 'Whoa, I saw him on ESPN.' After a while I started getting to my senses, though," he said. "I have to be mature and think about what it is about each school that makes it special and how I would fit in. I have to think about my standards and what I want in a school."
