2013 commit Jake Butt got a leg up through playing another sport as a kid

The call came while he sat on the couch Tuesday night with his girlfriend and a pair of friends, a completely unexpected bit of information he had hoped for but figured had passed him by.

So when his phone went off, Jake Butt (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington North) looked at his phone, saw "Michael White, ESPN" on the caller ID and decided to answer. He thought White was following up about his performance at the recent Nike Football Training Camp in Champaign, Ill., and in a way he was.
