AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -- The IMG 7-on-7 Midwest qualifier was held at Avondale High School and was filled with top prospects. The winning team for the weekend was led by the No. 46 player in the nation, linebacker Jaylon Smith (Fort Wayne, Ind./Bishop Luers), and it earned a spot in the finals in Florida.
The defending champions, a team with Michigan commits Shane Morris (Warren, Mich./De La Salle), Khalid Hill (Detroit/Crockett), Csont'e York (Detroit/Chandler Park) and Jourdan Lewis (Detroit/Cass Tech), nearly made it to the final game but took third place. The team already had an automatic bid to the finals for winning the entire tournament last year.
Smith's team knocked out the up-and-coming Core 6 team from Illinois that was only recently formed but features many of the top prospects from the Land of Lincoln.
