Editor's note: WolverineNation recruiting editor Tom VanHaaren will rank the Wolverines' commitments from 10-1 according to the importance of each to the 2012 roster. Prospect No. 3 is safety Jarrod Wilson.
ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- It has been a long time since Michigan had a true ball-hawking safety like Jarrod Wilson (Akron, Ohio/Buchtel). Yes, he is still in high school, but Wilson's potential is through the roof. He has a great combination of size and speed at 6-foot-2, 190 pounds, and his ability to cover the deep third of the field is something that Michigan's defense is lacking.
He probably will come in at free safety and will have Thomas Gordon, Carvin Johnson and Josh Furman ahead of him on the depth chart. Gordon and Johnson will be juniors during Wilson's first season. Assuming he takes a redshirt year, Wilson could be needed as soon as his redshirt sophomore year.
