ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Coach Brady Hoke and defensive coordinator Greg Mattison have made it clear that this Michigan team will win or lose by the battles up front on both the offensive and defensive lines. They are teaching players the technique and fundamentals now to move them toward that dominance up front, but they're also recruiting a certain type of linemen.
Mattison was the main recruiter for Mentor (Ohio) High School defensive end Tom Strobel and, not surprisingly, Mattison got his man. Strobel is an athletic and physical defensive end, which sounds like a perfect fit for Mattison's defense.
Mentor (Ohio) DE Tom Strobel uses non-stop motor to pressure the quarterback, recruit other players to Michigan.
