2013 Michigan basketball commit gets confidence from overseas trip

He was in the middle of a place he'd never been before, eating food he was unfamiliar with and trying to grasp playing in games where everyone was taller than him.
When it comes to the height of teenagers, Derrick Walton Jr. (Detroit/Chandler Park Academy) is average. In basketball terms, the Michigan point guard commit for the Class of 2013 is a 6-foot do-it-all dynamo who the Wolverines found early and stayed on.
However, in Europe, where Walton was part of a United States team that played in the Albert Schweitzer tournament earlier this month, he was one of the shortest players in the entire tournament.
