The list of LSU's 2013 commitments includes a handful of prospects from some unfamiliar places.

Amid all the familiar Louisiana hotspots such as Lake Charles, Monroe and Shreveport, there are names one doesn't traditionally associate with LSU football -- Los Angeles and the Chicago suburb of Lemont, Ill.

For a school that has risen to prominence mainly through its ability to "build a fence" around Louisiana, LSU is starting to see more national limelight. Of the Tigers' 17 current commitments, three of the highest-rated prospects are Hayden Rettig (Los Angeles/Cathedral), Ethan Pocic (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) and Frank Herron (Memphis/Central) -- none of whom hails from the Pelican State, or even the familiar recruiting grounds of the Gulf Coast.
