Who will surprise this fall?

Mailbag: Wilson could be name heard often in upcoming season

With the conclusion of the Bulldogs' spring camp there rises the annual questions about what we learned from it. With that in mind, DawgNation answers some questions submitted by readers. In this week's team mailbag we look at the offensive line and the diamonds in the rough, as well as UGA's drug policy.

Ben Thompson: Each spring it seems one of the players gets a lot of attention and then we never hear from him in the fall. The opposite is also true. So who is going to become household name this fall?

RN:Let's take a look at a couple of players that the fan base might not know too well and who I think will have a productive season. To be fair, I will not name any of last season's starters that have moved positions. I believe linebacker Ramik Wilson will have a big year as a backup. He was impressive this spring despite being buried in a deep linebacker corps. Also, D-back Devin Bowman will turn some heads as he will be relied upon early in the season. On offense I really want to say Jay Rome, but naming the top tight end prospect in 2011 is not exactly looking too deeply. Keep an eye on Austin Long and Rantavious Wooten. Long is finally healthy, and while he lacks game experience he knows the scheme better than most. Wooten is sort of the forgotten man amongst the receivers, but he can run with anyone and an injury-free season should result in him making a lot of catches.
