Roundtable: Mitchell's switch to CB
Updated: March 21, 2012, 10:03 AM ETBy DawgNation Staff
In this week's edition of the DawgNation Roundtable we take a look at one of the most talked-about position changes in some time. Mark Richt said last week that Malcolm Mitchell would be moving from wide receiver to cornerback for the spring. The DawgNation staff has been asked numerous times what we thought about it, so it was a logical question to address this week. Question: What do you think of Malcolm Mitchell switching to defensive back for the spring and playing both ways in the fall?
Radi Nabulsi: There have been quite a few position changes that I have disagreed with over the years. This is not one of them. I think it is a good idea, not just based on need, but because of who we are talking about. I do not recommend players cross training often, but Mitchell is a breed apart, just as Brandon Boykin was before him. The coaches have to be kicking themselves for not trying Boykin on offense until his senior year. They won't make the same mistake with Mitchell.
Dale Zanine/US PresswireMalcolm Mitchell spent 2011 jetting away from defenses; this coming season he'll have to readjust to tracking down elite receivers.
