ATHENS, Ga. -- Georgia athletic director Greg McGarity confirmed last week that he has opened preliminary contract talks with football coach Mark Richt that would revise his deal with the university.
McGarity sat down with DawgNation's David Ching this weekend to discuss Richt's situation at Georgia, their relationship and how the coach's name has been attached to a couple of job openings recently.
DC: I would think it hurts his bargaining ability for Mark to say he wants to be at Georgia for as long as Georgia will have him; but as an administrator, is it exciting for you to have a coach make it clear that this is where he wants to be?
Georgia AD Greg McGarity is glad to be talking contract specs with coach Mark Richt, as the two sides have a mutual desire to stick together for a while.
