Last weekend the Georgia Bulldogs hosted four recruits on official visits. Two of them, outside linebackers Josh Dawson (Tucker, Ga./Tucker) and Josh Harvey-Clemons (Valdosta, Ga./Lowndes) are targets that the coaches in Athens are still actively pursuing for the 2012 class. The other two, tight end Ty Smith (Moultrie, Ga./Colquitt Co.) and defensive lineman John Atkins (Thomson, Ga./Thomson) have been committed to the Bulldogs for months. DawgNation caught up with Atkins to see how his trip to Georgia went, and what he is looking forward to as we approach signing day.
Atkins, the No. 11 prospect in Georgia and No. 122 in the country, has already seen just about everything that Georgia has to offer during his numerous visits in the past year. But the ESPNU 150 lineman thoroughly enjoyed his time this past weekend in Athens during his one and only official visit.
"My official to Georgia went really well, and I liked being able to hang out with some of the players I will be playing with at Georgia," Atkins said. "I hung out with Ray Drew, John Jenkins and Tavarres King. They told me to keep working hard, and that playing under Coach [Rodney] Garner is fun. They said he is going to work you hard, but he is going to love you at the same time."
