ATHENS, Ga. -- Dalvin Tomlinson (McDonough, Ga./Henry County) is not trying to reinvent the wheel. But the 6-foot-2, 250-pound defensive lineman is using the tools he has picked up along the way to thrive at the next level. An accomplished artist, singer and trumpet and percussion player, track athlete, two-time state champion in wrestling, and holder of a 3.9 GPA (4.4 when his AP schedule is factored in), Tomlinson has had success through just about every avenue he has pursued. His achievements have led to more than 50 college football programs stopping by Henry County High to offer him a scholarship for football, including one from the prestigious Ivy League.

"One day I was in weight training, and next thing I know the coach from Harvard offered me a scholarship," Tomlinson said. "I did not think I was academically good enough to get into Harvard, so I was surprised when they offered. I try to work so hard in the classroom, so I do not have to worry about academics and I can just focus on football."

While he has benefited from track -- he said he ran the 200 meter dash in 24.2 seconds at 260 pounds another sport might have given the three-star prospect a true leg up on the competition.
