Four-star linebacker Raphael Kirby (Stone Mountain, Ga./Stephenson), a Miami commitment since May, said Thursday night that he will visit Athens this weekend for Georgia's game against Coastal Carolina.
Because of injuries to Alec Ogletree and Christian Robinson, the Bulldogs were forced to play true freshman Amarlo Herrera and walk-on Jeremy Sulek at inside linebacker last Saturday against South Carolina. With the Bulldogs depleted at the position, and with the clouds of uncertainty still hanging over the Hurricanes program, UGA recruiting coordinator Rodney Garner reached out to Kirby.
"Coach Garner let me know how thin they are [at linebacker], and that reminded me of the South Carolina game on TV," Kirby said. "I saw Ogletree go down, and it showed me how they are really young right now. He also told me again how great their business school is. He knows that is important to me as I am just as much a student as I am an athlete."
